The Power of Therapeutic Stories
I specialise in therapeutic story writing and support children and young people in writing their own therapeutic stories.
Therapeutic storytelling is a powerful yet gentle approach that uses metaphor to support emotional understanding, shift behaviour, gain perspective, and navigate challenges such as anxiety, low confidence, or big feelings. By externalising experiences into story form, children can explore difficult themes with a sense of distance and safety.
Because metaphor is processed differently to direct language, stories often resonate more deeply, allowing insights to emerge naturally and meaning to land in a way that feels accessible and lasting.
In sessions, this may involve creating characters, drawing scenes, building narratives or co-writing stories together. Each process is tailored to the individual, meeting them where they are and working at their pace.
